Just so that we are clear, please note that signing online petitions doesn't mean anything if there is no matching advocacy. Timing of the activity is also very important. In the end, advocacy and grassroots effort must compliment each other at the same time. The website you are referring is an advertisement website. Its not a resource for serious advocacy effort.
The Congress is right now focused on DREAM Act. If we just say "Erase Green card backlog", it will mean nothing. But there is a chance if we send specific targeted message asking to include specific provisions in the bill that appear to be moving (i.e. DREAM Act in this case), and IV is complimenting this message with the advocacy on the ground.

My Employer's Inhouse Attorney ( one of big 4 ) says technically EB dependents ( all 1,2,3) must be classified under FAMILY quota. USCIS mis classifies them under EMPLOYMENT quota.
Is he technically correct ?
Since, Most of dependents will not be affected when they are classified under Family quota (as they have AP and EAD).
Can IV possibly consider for push for reclassification of Dependents under Family Quota ? This will reduce backlog.
Please don't take it out of context, I am not trying to hurt any EB dependents, I too have a spouse working part time using beneficiary EAD. This is more of an open question.
Will you join our hands in recapture ? Will you considering contributing to IV. I will be happy if you can activlly participate in our effort.

I agree. Something strong needs to happen for EB3(I). I personally never have seen any difference between the pain felt by EB2 and EB3, ROW or I. Everyone feels the same pain waiting for their GC. But the prospect for EB2 atleast looks better. For EB3 it looks gloomy as always.
If there is a lawsuit, then it should be for all, not just for EB3.

My case is similar to yours: dates, TSC, received EAD before receipts, don't know who paid the checks, etc.
I inquired my attorney and they sent me the receipts. Ask them, they would have received it already.

My I-485 and EAD applications were delivered on July 18th at the TSC. Since then, I have not heard from USCIS until this evening, when to my delight, I received the EAD card in my mailbox!
May I know if the EAD receipt # is the same as the I-485 receipt number? I tried to check my case status online with the receipt # on my EAD card but the only information I could see was for Form I-765. Could somebody please clarify this?
My attorney isn't the most helpful person and she has been silent ever since I filed the I-485 & EAD. Also, she issued her own firm's checks to USCIS for the filing of these documents so I don't know if the checks were cashed (and therefore, cannot check for the receipt notice on the back of the check). I intend to call her t'row.

I feel sorry for EB3 folks even though I'm under EB2. But I get upset when some of the EB2 folks don't even know the reason why they started getting green cards recently all of a sudden ( b'coz of roll over). They don't educate themselves and talk as if they deserve the green cards. If was a collective effort from IV and fellow immigrants that pressurised USCIS to follow the rules and reduce the backlogs.
Are you implying every person born in India in the EB2 owes a debt of gratitude to IV?
Why do people not deserve their greencards? If they followed the law, stood in line, and the government of the USA deemed them fit for a GC what else do you need for them to be deserving? Touch your feet and get your blessings?

During July 07, i know some of the couples did apply twice once a primary and other as dependent on the other. In July 07, wife and i did not take that approach and had separate applications. In August 08, i applied for my second 485 as her dependent since i would have to wait a decade to get gc through my application. For now, my other application shows under review. Once i get GC in my hands, then i will ask my compnay lawyer if there is a need for withdrawing my other application.

My employer told me earlier during joining in 2005 that ther will pay for all costs of GC (LC,140,485) now its seems like I have to pay my employer to get the essential documentations for 485 - What a Irony !!!

You wont neccesarily get RFE for omitting the employer's letter. Your 485 CAN GET DENIED.
YOU NEED EMPLOYER'S LETTER THAT STATES THE INTENTION OF HIRING WHEN GC IS APPROVED. Otherwise, as per USCIS memo recently issued, the officer can simply deny the 485 without bothering the send you an RFE to explain the missing document.
The recent memo says that if the "INTIAL EVIDENCE" is missing, then the petition can be denied outrightly without having to send the RFE.
Read this memo page 2 item # 3 :

Also, read the filing instructions on form I 485. The employer's letter is listed under "Initial evidence" list.

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!
