if there are more than 200 people then weekend works too, it will get coverage, but otherwise anything in DC must happen beginning of the week. Senators congressmen usually leave town Thursday night. So if the intent is to show tourists or if the intent is to show lawmakers is what we need to decide. If the numbers are high on a weekend, then automatically there will be press coverage. Somebody needs to prepare press statements and so on. It not about convenience more than needs, lets weigh in how many people can we get to participate first, firmly.
I agree weekend we can get max participation . Also keep an eye on weather ( we dont want rain/t-stroms) and parking .

Hi,
If the Dems win control of the Senate, I expect no major changes for us. The amnesty bills are already passed easily in the Senate as is anyway. That doesn't change anything for us there.
In the House, this will be a close race. Even if Dems barely win in the House, what is less likely, then they may well find themselves struggling again to get major votes for the amnesty bills. Remember that the amnesty bills got rejected in the House by large margin - and - enforcement only bills got approved there widely. Our stand alone SKULL bill - not sure whether that will be considered by Democrats. Democrats will probably address the Dream Act before they take over the SKULL bill. Let them pass Dream Act, and then we, the Employment Base applicants will be in a real dream for a long time.
It won't be easy, folks.

Therefore they will make the decisions such as, when and how to discuss these measures in committee, when and with whom to hold congressional hearings(expert testimony), when to go to conference and which representatives to to go to conference, and so on, these things influence the legislative process as much as votes do.
The bottomline is House Republicans had a fair shot at this and decided against any changes, I can't see how them returning is going to solve a thing. Immigration is one of the few issues that the Upper House and the Pres. can agree with a democratic congress on. Issues such as Soc. Security, healthcare etc will certainly end up in gridlock as the republican strategist Ed Rollins points out.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. I have a question regarding the 180 day rule. I am a July 2nd filer, got EAD and AP and did my FP. my I-140 was also approved in oct 2007. So, I will be meeting the 180 day rule and I-140 approved criteria in jan 2nd,08.
Can I change job after Jan 2nd or I have to wait for 180 days from the time of 140 approval date. I think if its from 485 receipt date, I do meet 180 days rule and am safe to move on with another job/employer.
I know this question should had been asked by other members also, but I don't want to search all threads.
Looking for some genuine answers instead of thread bashings.

Its amazing how this community reacts to these set backs. For last few months I have been consistently seeing people with EB-3 complaining and pleading to the community to come together and join hands to eliminate the country cap. But most of the words fell of dumb ears. Most of the EB-2 members did read the pleads and requests, but did not bother to take and concrete actions or even comment on it.
Now that the EB-2 is regrogressed to 2000, suddenly all the EB-2 members jump in. What happened, friends?
This is plain selfishness - on the part for few lil stratured people. They should be ashamed of themselves or even to comment on these forums and come up with ideas.
The point is not to divide the community, but to emphasize on unity! Though we belong to different EB categories, we need to work together and realize the pain of the community as a whole instead of taking it individually.
Well my hopes are pretty low from this community, infact hopeless. But I did take the pain to create the dummy username to point this bigotry of some of our useless members, who are among us.
Please don't care for our betterment - we have and would manage without the help of you BS people.

Gurus,
I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.

You wont neccesarily get RFE for omitting the employer's letter. Your 485 CAN GET DENIED.
YOU NEED EMPLOYER'S LETTER THAT STATES THE INTENTION OF HIRING WHEN GC IS APPROVED. Otherwise, as per USCIS memo recently issued, the officer can simply deny the 485 without bothering the send you an RFE to explain the missing document.
The recent memo says that if the "INTIAL EVIDENCE" is missing, then the petition can be denied outrightly without having to send the RFE.
Read this memo page 2 item # 3 :

Also, read the filing instructions on form I 485. The employer's letter is listed under "Initial evidence" list.

How many of those 245(i) cases from April 2001 might exist in the EB3-India bucket?
As long as there are 245(i) cases pending against Eb3-India, this category cannot move past 2001. Though it doesn't make any sense how EB3-China and EB3-Mexico made it to 2003.

I filed late June at NSC trs to Texas and received on July 2nd. Just received my RN yesterday for my 485. On line it says that my ead has been approved and the notice went out on the 25th.
